Sunrise is building a movement of young people across race and class to stop the climate crisis and win a Green New Deal. We will force the government to end the reign of fossil fuel elites, invest in Black, brown and working class communities, and create millions of good union jobs. We’re on a mission to put everyday people back in charge and build a world that works for all of us, now and for generations to come.

As a youth movement, Sunrise members are under 35, pay dues, and organize to stop the climate crisis and win a Green New Deal. As a dues-paying member of Sunrise, you’ll get:
- Access to Sunrise trainings, programs, and resources.
- Access to the Sunrise Portal
- Decision-making rights on movement wide votes.

Why Dues?
Oil and gas executives have billions of dollars. We have people. To defeat them, we need to grow our movement and build a powerful organization.
Movement accountable to membership: We aspire to become a powerful youth climate movement that is owned and funded by our membership, and thus accountable to our members.
Organize more people into Sunrise: We believe a shift towards dues will enable us to organize more people into the movement. Not everyone is able to give an hour or three or five to hub efforts or organizing, but do have resources to support the movement.
Networks of care & solidarity: Our vision is that the membership and dues drive generate the resources to build care for our society by passing the Green New Deal at every layer of government, but also care for the relationships we’re building to stay in this fight for the long haul.
Explicit convos about class: We believe a shift towards dues will support us to build across class by requiring members and leaders to engage in explicit, and ongoing conversations about money and class.
How much are dues?
You decide! Dues are paid on a sliding scale, but we offer suggestions below based on class background
- $5/ a month – you keep a tight budget and have little flexible money to spend
- $15/ a month – you make a living wage or are financially comfortable
- $45/ a month – you make a high income or have access to inherited wealth
I already organize with Sunrise movement. Do I still have to sign up to become a member?
Yes, all current and new members of Sunrise must become dues-paying members of Sunrise by filling out this form. If you cannot afford to start paying dues but still want to organize with Sunrise, you can apply for a dues waiver.
Filling out the form allows us to have a stronger record of your membership and provide you with the resources you’ll need to organize your community for a Green New Deal.
