Days after winning her election in 2018 to become the Representative for New York’s 14th Congressional District, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined Sunrise’s sit-in at Nancy Pelosi’s office and helped launch the Green New Deal into the national spotlight. She didn’t stop there. AOC and Ed Markey wrote the Green New Deal resolution the following spring, catapulting the movement to stop the climate crisis in the halls of Congress. She’s been a tireless fighter for the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, Defunding the Police, and we’re proud to stand with her and fight alongside her for the Green New Deal.
